Intel IT has embarked on an enterprise-wide, eight-year strategy to transform their global data center environment, increasing efficiency and substantially reducing cost. The strategy focuses on standardization, increasing utilization, and reducing the number of data centers. The plan includes consolidating data centers and accelerating server refresh, as well as employing grid computing virtualization and energy-efficient computing. Projected program savings is USD 1 billion or more.
