Conseco: Ensuring Success

Conseco, A Fortune 1000 insurance company, chose Intel® multi-core technology-based servers to consolidate its data center and reduce costs. As other companies were acquired over the years, their data centers were moved to the main Conseco data center. Get the details on how Conseco IT management consolidated the hundreds of different servers accumulating at the Carmel site into a more streamlined hardware and software environment by building upon a virtualization effort. TIBCO Software Opts for Blades to Address Business Growth, Lower IT Costs

First the Tick, Now the Tock: Next Generation Intel® Microarchitecture (Nehalem)

Since the introduction of the Intel® Core™ microarchitecture in 2006 and its 45nm enhancements, Intel microprocessors have delivered unprecedented capability to end users. Intel IT’s Air Economizer Proof of Concept

Learn about Intel’s investigation of air economizers to optimize power and cooling in their data centers. The proof of concept (PoC) test used 100% air exchange over a 10-month period with an extreme range in temperature, humidity and air quality. The result was an estimated data center power savings of 67% and a potential savings of $2.87 million for a 10-MW data center. (more…)

Virtualization Helps DDS Dresdner Direktservice GmbH Achieve Better Performance at Lower Cost

DDS Dresdner Direktservice GmbH helps Dresdner Bank and other Allianz Group business units by offering customer sales support and services. Continuous growth pushed some DDS servers to their capacity limits, and maintenance contracts for 39 servers expired. DDS decided to gradually replace its hardware and to deploy virtualization. The decision was prompted by successful trials on two servers with multi-core Intel® Xeon® processors.
