Managing almost 2,500 PCs, including many notebooks used by mobile workers in utility trucks, was a challenge for one of the nation’s largest publicly-owned utilities. Software patches and other issues required lots of travel time for technicians. Georgian College of Canada Achieves 1,350% ROI Over Four Years Across Seven Campuses
Friday, February 27th, 2009In late 2008, Georgian College of Canada began refreshing systems with desktop PCs with Intel® Core™2 processor with vPro™ technology and notebooks with Intel® Centrino® with vPro™ technology. The college then studied the return on investment (ROI) realized by deploying the PCs across their nine sites. Based on the results of their investigation, Georgian College expects to save approximately $104,000 Canadian just in help desk and travel costs for technicians. State of Indiana: Reducing CO2 Emissions through Remote Services and Off-Hours Power Management
Thursday, February 26th, 2009The State of Indiana conducted a manageability assessment of PCs with Intel® Core™2 processor with vPro™ technology. Their decision to convert 20,000 desktop systems to PCs with Intel® vPro™ technology within four years was based on reduced operational expenses. An additional benefit was the reduced task time for some types of software diagnoses and repairs that can reduce nearly 860,000 pounds of CO2 emissions across four years. (more…)

Tyson Foods: Realizing Cost Savings and Improved Productivity Through Remote Management Capabilities
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009Tyson started with 1,500 PCs (13% of their desktop environment), which were already capable of being managed with Intel® Standard Manageability, built into PCs with Intel® vPro™ technology. Within three days Tyson had enabled their infrastructure and three weeks later were well on their way to realizing the cost savings inherent in PCs with Intel vPro technology. Improving Manageability with OS Streaming White Paper
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008OS streaming can deliver considerable manageability benefits to Intel IT training rooms with multi-user PCs. To evaluate performance and utilization in a production environment, we conducted proof of concept (PoC) testing in two rooms located in different buildings on an Intel campus. We found that OS streaming improved manageability and delivered fast client boot times with moderate server and network utilization, even during worst-case boot storms. (more…)
