Earning an A with Intel® Architecture
Saturday, December 13th, 2008By virtualizing approximately two-thirds of its server architecture utilizing the quad-core performance and hardware-assisted virtualization capabilities of the Intel® Xeon® processor 5300 series and by adopting Intel® vPro™ Technology to enhance remote management of its 25,000 PCs, Clayton County Schools is able to save a considerable sum of money. They saved on servers (running 122 virtual machines on 22 servers), PC management costs (an estimated $676,000 on hardware and software ticket remediation), power consumption (cutting server power consumption by more than 90%) and space (eliminating 17 server cabinets plus a half-rack at each school).
