Wall Street Systems Boosts Revenues, Cuts Costs by Migrating to Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Wall Street Systems, who help financial institutions and other enterprises improve their workflows and increase control of corporate treasury, bank treasury, central banking, FX trading, and global back office operations, found their clients wanted the ability to replace their SPARC* and specialized UNIX* boxes with off-the-shelf Intel systems. By offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux* versions of its best-selling financial applications, Wall Street Systems could create new revenue streams and sharpen its ability to compete aggressively against other financial software firms in its increasingly cost-conscious market niche. Mortenson Construction: Building a Better PC Environment

With nearly half of the company’s PC users out in the field and just a small IT staff to manage networked devices located at six offices and over 120 job sites, Mortenson Construction relies heavily on remote management for PC software repair. Their previous solution was only effective if the PC was up and running. Station Casinos: A Safe Bet

To help control IT costs and ensure a robust customer experience, the Station Casinos IT group virtualized its infrastructure by running VMware* virtualization software on Dell PowerEdge* servers equipped with the Intel® Xeon® processor 5100 and 5400 series. So far, the company has eliminated almost 100 physical servers, avoided $190,000 in hardware acquisition costs, and accelerated the deployment of new services from weeks to hours. Utility District Achieves Positive ROI, Improves User Productivity

Managing almost 2,500 PCs, including many notebooks used by mobile workers in utility trucks, was a challenge for one of the nation’s largest publicly-owned utilities. Software patches and other issues required lots of travel time for technicians. State of Indiana: Reducing CO2 Emissions through Remote Services and Off-Hours Power Management

The State of Indiana conducted a manageability assessment of PCs with Intel® Core™2 processor with vPro™ technology. Their decision to convert 20,000 desktop systems to PCs with Intel® vPro™ technology within four years was based on reduced operational expenses. An additional benefit was the reduced task time for some types of software diagnoses and repairs that can reduce nearly 860,000 pounds of CO2 emissions across four years. (more…)
