One important issue was integrating the solution with existing security infrastructure and policies to ensure secure client management across the enterprise. After performing qualitative risk assessments, potential threats were identified and prioritized leading Intel IT to design a certificate-based authentication solution to control access to the client management console. Improving Manageability with OS Streaming White Paper
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008OS streaming can deliver considerable manageability benefits to Intel IT training rooms with multi-user PCs. To evaluate performance and utilization in a production environment, we conducted proof of concept (PoC) testing in two rooms located in different buildings on an Intel campus. We found that OS streaming improved manageability and delivered fast client boot times with moderate server and network utilization, even during worst-case boot storms. (more…)
Increasing the Business Value of Mobility
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Mobile computing has become a strategic asset for Intel. Wireless-enabled notebooks increase the productivity per average employee by more than five percent and help to create a more efficient work environment. Today, approximately 80 percent of Intel employees use a notebook as their primary business tool. Now we are working to take the mobility of our workers to the next level by taking a look at our overall mobile strategy.
The result is a major upgrade of our mobile computing solutions coupled with a redesign of our physical office space. This white paper describes our experience in designing and deploying the new mobile work environments, and in helping our employees make the transition. The Critical Missions of Leadership

Intel IT’s Air Economizer Proof of Concept
Monday, December 1st, 2008Learn about Intel’s investigation of air economizers to optimize power and cooling in their data centers. The proof of concept (PoC) test used 100% air exchange over a 10-month period with an extreme range in temperature, humidity and air quality. The result was an estimated data center power savings of 67% and a potential savings of $2.87 million for a 10-MW data center. (more…)
